The Long Game
I often get in my own head when I am talking to both potential clients and current clients about how long it will take to get results.
6 months is the standard, 6 months a long time. 6 months is a big investment. Of both time and money. It’s a tough sell.
Whether it’s online coaching or personal training, I get it.
Why do I think that what I offer is worth 6 months of your time?
There’s a reason new drivers are the most expensive to ensure.
How long is a learners permit for driving? In Ontario, it’s 8-12 months.
What if you wanted to learn an instrument?
Would you feel comfortable to play your first show in front of an audience after 6 months?
The thing with fitness goals, whether it’s weight loss, building strength or muscle, improving your mobility or rehab for chronic pain, it takes time. Some silly saying I heard that is no way based in science says “1 month of recovery for every year you’ve been in the situation.” Again, not based in science, but why I thought to include this is to paint the picture that there are no quick fixes. That you didn’t get into the position you’re in overnight, so it’s reasonable to expect that you won’t get out of it over night either.
Most people reach out to me because they feel stuck. They feel trapped. They feel tired of rinsing and repeating. And they want to try something new.
With any new skill or task, there is a lack of proficiency. With a lack of proficiency, there should be an expected time period of doubt and uncertainty. Two things that are very hard to overcome in one night.
That’s where I come in. To make sure you are making progress, that there is someone there to lead you every step of the way.
